Buy The Book Daily Picks: NBA Playoffs Day One Edition

Yesterday was tough, as we went 1-3 with our losses coming by a combined 2.5 goals/runs, but today is a new day and a great one at that. As the NBA Playoffs tip off we look towards Orlando as all four of our picks come from the bubble.

Alex Jansen (5-5-1, 50%, -0.55u): Denver Nuggets -5 vs Utah Jazz

Surprisingly, the line on this one has not moved much since the announcement that Mike Conley had left the bubble. For the Jazz to cover Donovan Mitchell will have to play like he did in the seeding game vs the Nuggets. It should be a close game before the Jazz’s depth issues bite them in the second half leading to a Nuggets cover.

Ben Jansen (25-13, 65.79%, +26.15u): LA Clippers -6 vs Dallas Mavericks

See Ryan’s explanation

Dylan Kelly (8-4, 66.66%, +4.85u, 4 straight wins): Brooklyn Nets +10 vs Toronto Raptors

The Nets have only lost by more than 10 in the bubble one time, and they won some big games against the Bucks and Clippers. Do I think the Nets will win this series? Absolutely not. But I do expect Caris Levert and the Nets to keep this game within 10 points.

Risk 1.1 to Win 1

Ryan Kelly (6-4, 60%, +1.75u): LA Clippers -6 vs Dallas Mavericks

Despite Luka Doncic playing out of his mind lately, the Clippers are an elite defensive team and they will force players besides Luka to make plays for the Mavs. To me, Dallas poses no threat to the Clippers if LAC can limit Doncic they way they have before. If Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are clicking offensively, the defensive minded Clippers should be able to get in control of this game and series.
