Buy The Book hasn’t had much going on so far, with our only bets being in the EPL, UFC, and exhibition golf matches. However, that changes today as we kick off our daily picks series for Buy The Book. Every day, each of our staff writers will give one bet they love the most for the entire day, across every sport, and break it down for you. Here we go.
Alex Jansen (0-0, 0%, 0u): Toronto Raptors -7 vs Orlando Magic
Toronto is 2-0 in the bubble with two very convincing wins. The Magic lost Jonathan Isaac in game one of the restart and are on the second leg of a back-to-back after being blown out by the Pacers without him. Expect the Raptors to jump out to a big lead early, before taking their foot off the gas and rest their starters in the second half while cruising to victory.

Ben Jansen (11-4, 73.3%, +6.35u): LA Lakers vs OKC Thunder O218
These teams are both 1-1 on Over/Unders in the bubble, but I expect this one to be a higher scoring affair than most realize. I think both of these teams are strong matchups for one another, as CP3 and SGA should be able to attack the Lakers’ weak defensive backcourt, and LeBron and AD should dominate the front court for the Lakers. Stops will likely be at a premium in this one, as the Thunder are shooting 46.5% from the field in the restart and have scored more than 110 points in both games, while the Lakers struggled against two of the better defensive teams in the league against the Raptors and Clippers, but got back on track against the Jazz. I fully expect both teams to score more than 110 points in this one, and the over to hit easy.

Dylan Kelly (0-0, 0%, 0u): Washington Nationals -1.5 vs NY Mets
Rick Porcello is looking to rediscover his Cy Young form for the Mets, but that won’t happen tonight. The Mets have struggled to give their pitching much run support, and with McNeil and Cano injured that likely wouldn’t change if they were facing a normal pitcher, but tonight they face Max Scherzer. The Mets will struggle to score again, and the Nationals won’t have to do much to cover this -1.5.
Risk 1 to Win 1
Ryan Kelly (0-0, 0%, 0u): Denver Nuggets -3.5 vs San Antonio Spurs
The Nuggets are coming off a win against the Thunder where Michael Porter Jr dropped 37 points. If he can continue this breakout and become the player he has the potential to be, Denver is as dangerous as any team in the league. The Spurs talent level doesn’t come close to comparing to the Nuggets thanks to some of their key players sitting out, and if MPJ stays hot the Spurs have no chance here.
