Four-star Sophomore Rodney Rice Breaks Down Recruitment

Just one week into the official start of the class of 2022 recruitment, Rodney Rice has a long list of offers and interest from plenty of high major schools. He is rated as a four-star on 247 and ranked 54th nationally. The combo guard also recently announced he will transfer to national powerhouse Dematha Catholic, which is home to many college stars and Rice is next in line.

Rice spoke to me about his recruitment which started last Monday with a text from Miami head coach Jim Larrañaga and says he has since heard from, “Louisville, Ohio State, Marquette, Maryland, UVA, Providence, Alabama, Stanford, UConn, LSU, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Miami, Norte Dame, VA Tech, Georgia and Georgetown.” Of these schools he says, “I’ve probably talked to Georgetown or Louisville the most because of how long they’ve been recruiting me.”

All schools have recently been in touch with him, and in the last week he has just been taking it all in. He says, “The process has been great. I’m nowhere near making a decision so everything is wide open. No pressure right now in my recruitment really. All this attention from coaches is a blessing but I won’t forget what got me to this point and that’s my work ethic so all this is just humbling.”

Once again, Rodney Rice is an early riser in the class of 2022 and will be the lead guard at Dematha Catholic this year. Many say he’s of the hardest workers there is and with that he will continue to land plenty more offers. Keep an eye on his recruitment as his list is already a big one which will grow by the day.
