Texas native Wade Taylor is a pesty defender who’s speed makes him very difficult to guard on the offensive end. This combo is rare and often only seen with top point guards in the country. He is one of those, the class of 2021 point guard is rated as a 4-star and the 114th best player in his class.
Taylor spoke with me to break down his recruitment which has been picking up as of late. He says, “Texas A&M, SMU, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Tulsa, Iona, Ole miss, Wichita State” are amongst the schools recruiting him the hardest and keeping in touch the most. Wade also made it clear that new schools are reaching out every day, and says, “My latest offers have been Wichita State, UTA, and Virginia Tech.”
The NCAA still has live in-person recruiting suspended due to the global pandemic, which prevents recruits from visiting schools. Despite this, Taylor says, “I hope soon to be able to visit schools and get a feel for the atmosphere, but until then I will continue to enjoy the process.”
With that being said, coaches will make their pitch through Zoom video calls. Taylor recently completed calls with Texas A&M, Iona, and Vanderbilt.
The 6’1 guard is just enjoying the process and will wait to make his decision whenever it is best. When that time comes he says, “I’m looking for a school where I can come in early and make an impact as a freshman, and most importantly have a great relationship with the staff!”
Wade Taylor is a sneaky, under the radar guard, who is someone I fully expect to continue to earn offers and interest all the way up until his commitment.
