Top-rated JUCO guard El Ellis currently holds 20 offers and that number will definitely grow. The class of 2021 guard played his freshman season at Tallahassee Community College where he averaged 14.5 points per game shooting 45% from the field in 33 games.
The JUCO level allowed Ellis to become a high major prospect and a priority for many schools. “JUCO gave [him] another opportunity to get things right because out of high school [he] was a non qualifier.” Failing to meet the academic standards, he has since improved his academics to become NCAA eligible.
Ellis holds offers from schools such as Louisville, Iowa State, UConn, Oregon, NC State, Texas Tech, and many more. He says “I’m not sure when I will cut my list or commit at the moment.” A big part of that is because “Florida State, Arkansas, Georgia, Creighton, Oregon State, and Minnesota” are amongst new schools showing interest and “all 20 schools are recruiting [him] pretty hard, so this process has been interesting.”
Due to the NCAA putting a hold on in-person recruitment, El hasn’t been able to visit any schools, but would like to before he makes his decision. His most important things in deciding a school is “going to a winning program, having a great relationship with the coaching staff and to know that they believe in me and will put the ball in my hands from day one.”
Ellis has no shortage of suitors and his list will continue to grow. Arguably the top 2021 junior college prospect will have a lot of eyes on him as he closes in on his commitment.
